The Berkeley College Department of Athletics recently announced the appointment of Jay Lynch as Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball program. The Berkeley College Women’s Basketball team had an outstanding season last year and was ranked No. 1 among 41 teams nationwide, according to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Coaches Poll.
Mr. Lynch, a graduate of John Jay College, brings with him experience as a successful recruiter, coach and player.
Andy DeStephano, Berkeley College Director of Athletics, said Mr. Lynch built a program that was nationally respected on a yearly basis in the USCAA Division I conference.
“Coach Lynch believes in recruiting quality student athletes who represent themselves and their institution with pride and respect,” Mr. DeStephano said. “He has a passion for seeing students reach their potential on the court and in the classroom. We are enthusiastic about the potential he brings to Berkeley College.”
Coach Lynch is one of only a few individuals to play on and coach an undefeated team in the competitive New York Catholic League while earning his undergraduate degree. He also spent time coaching at Seaford High School and was the Head Coach at the Academy of St. Joseph in Brentwood, NY. He lives with his family in Long Beach, NY.
