Samsung Employees Give Back with Habitat Bergen
A team of 12 volunteers worked on our Bergenfield home, framing and raising walls as we continue to build a single-family, three-bedroom home. This was the first of two Day of Service programs Samsung plans to host this year.
“Giving back is a huge part of our mission at Samsung. We believe in being an active corporate citizen, working to support the organizations that are truly making a difference in the communities where we work and live,” said Ann Woo, Senior Director of Corporate Citizenship at Samsung Electronics America. “Our employees power our ability to give back, and so we were especially grateful that Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County welcomed us back on Day of Service. Through the years, we have enjoyed developing this partnership for good, and we are so excited to be part of this effort to provide a new home to a family in need.”
“Bergen County is a hub for many global corporate headquarters such as Samsung, and we are fortunate to have developed a strong community partnership with Samsung over the years. As an innovative leader in both technology and corporate citizenship, Samsung has redefined what it means to give back by embedding its community values into its corporate culture and constantly introducing new corporate responsibility programs that bring together technology, philanthropy, environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, and community,” said Angela King, Habitat Bergen’s Director of Volunteers.

About Habitat for Humanity of Bergen County
The goal of Habitat Bergen is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the face of the earth by working in partnership with people in need. Using volunteer labor and donated funds and materials, Habitat Bergen builds or rehabilitates simple, decent houses and sells them to low-income families at cost, but with no interest added. Habitat Bergen is a people-to-people partnership, which joins all of us together regardless of race, nationality, religion, or socioeconomic status. That partnership begins with the homeowner families (partner families). Habitat Bergen is not a giveaway program, but a joint venture in which those who benefit from the housing ministry are involved in the work at various levels. They help with the construction of their own home, as well as the houses of their neighbors.
