2016 4th of July, A Celebration To Remember

Paramus 4th of July
After months of hard work and planning, our 4th of July Committee headed by Ace Antonio and Ann Marie Franson met the due date with equanimity. The fireworks, sponsored by Westfield Garden State Plaza Shopping Center and the Parade primarily sponsored by Columbia Bank took place and almost every contingency pre-met. The parade procession started out from Century Road and went down Farview Avenue to Midland Avenue, took a right turn and went past the reviewing stand  and many went into Midland school for the judging festivities. Among the sponsors were: The Outlets at Bergen Town Center, Paramus Park Mall, IKEA of Paramus and Prestige Family of Fine Cars Official Car Dealership of the Paramus 4th of July.

Paramus Sunrise Rotary Club, once again, conducted their food drive along the route with vehicles furnished by The Outlets At Bergen Town Center. This year they were aided by volunteers from the Paramus Friendly Neighbors headed by Debbie Cibelli who arranged for the deposit, afterwards, in the Paramus Food Pantry. People are used to the Rotary sign trailer towed behind a Bergen Town Center pickup truck snd now bring a lot of food to the parade for donations.

Among the politicians attending were Mayor Rich LaBarbiera and the Paramus Council members, US Senator Cory Booker, NJ Senator Bob Gordon, Assemblymen Tim Eustace and Joe Lagana, Bergen County Executive and former Paramus Mayor Jim Tedesco, Bergen County Clerk John Hogan, Surrogate Judge Michael Dressler, Freeholder Chairman Steve Tanelli, Freeholders Maria DeNicola, David Ganz, Tom Sullivan and Joan Voss. The Bergen County Sheriff's Department under the leadership of Sheriff Mike Saudino also participated.

In the lineup were members of the VFW Post 6699, many of whom relied on motorized transport. Their leader, Post Commander Art Bergmann elected to walk the distance.
