“We are pleased that our Gynecologic Surgery program has been recognized by Healthgrades for outstanding performance, said Audrey Meyer, President and CEO of Valley Health System and The Valley Hospital. "It is a testament to the hard work our gynecologic surgeons put into achieving the best clinical outcomes possible for their patients.”
“When selecting a hospital, leveraging information about comparative quality can increase the odds of an uncomplicated stay versus one that may be longer, more costly, or that may require additional remedial treatments. It’s more important than ever that consumers research their options,” said Evan Marks, Chief Strategy Officer, Healthgrades. “Hospitals that have achieved the Healthgrades 2016 Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award™ have demonstrated exceptional performance and deliver high quality gynecological care.”
Gynecologic surgery includes hysterectomy and other surgical procedures related to female reproductive organs. To help consumers evaluate and compare hospital performance in gynecologic surgery, Healthgrades analyzed patient outcome data for all patients (all-payer data) made available by 17 individual states for years 2012 through 2014. Healthgrades found that there is a significant variation in quality for gynecologic surgery.
From 2012-2014, patients treated in hospitals receiving the Gynecologic Surgery Excellence Award™ had, on average, a 44.9 percent lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.
Valley’s Gynecologic Surgery program is also a Healthgrades Five-Star Recipient for Gynecologic Surgery, Hysterectomy, and C-Section for 2016; and has also been recognized by Healthgrades for 2016 Superior Performance in Gynecologic Surgery.
For 2016, Valley has also been recognized by Healthgrades as one of America's 50 Best Hospitals for Vascular Surgery, one of America's 100 Best Hospitals for Orthopedic Surgery, and with the 2016 Patient Safety Excellence Award.
