RIDGEWODD RECREATION FALL ART ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS FOR ALL AGES BEGIN NEXT WEEK


Art is defined as “something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings”.  Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skills and can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and performance in teamwork.

Ridgewood Parks and Recreation is pleased to offer art enrichment classes for students from preschool to senior adult. 

Preschool

     Garden Arts for Kids - ages 4-7, Mondays, 3:45 to 4:45 pm, beginning September 12th, at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue.  Participants will explore and learn about nature, animals, gardening and recycling with creative eco-art projects each week.  $100/5 classes (non-residents $110).  All materials included.

     My First Art with Abrakadoodle - ages 20-42 months (caregiver must attend), Tuesdays, 10 to 10:45 am, beginning September 13th at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue.  Dress for mess to paint, draw, sculpt and explore.  $110/6 classes (non-residents $120).  All materials are provided.

     Mini Doodler with Abrakadoodle - ages 3-5, Wednesdays, 1:30 to 2:15 pm, beginning September 14th, at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue.  This is a drop off class where students take a journey to inspire creativity and foster the love of art while working with mixed media.  $110/ 6 classes (non-residents $120).  All materials are provided.

Elementary

     Garden Arts for Kids - ages 4-7, Mondays, 3:45 to 4:45 pm, beginning September 12th, at the Stable, 259 N.      Acrylics with Mrs. C. - Grades 2-8, Tuesdays, 3:30 to 4:45 pm, beginning September 13th, at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue.  This is a welcoming class that allows students to paint in their own style and at their own pace.  Beginners are welcome.  $65/ 6 classes (non-residents $75).  Materials are additional - a list will be provided at registration.

     Drawing with Mrs. C. - Grades 2-8, Wednesdays, 3:30 to 4:45 pm, beginning September 14th, at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue.  Learn to draw with step by step instruction.  $65/ 6 classes (non-residents $75).  Materials are additional - a list will be provided at registration.

     Kool Kids Paint with Abrakadoodle - Grades K-4, Thursdays, 3:45 to 4:45 pm, beginning September 15th, at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Ave.  Students will create cool art like string paintings as inspired by Fernando Botero, learn about reflection paintings and much, much more.  $120/ 6 classes (non-residents $130).  All materials are provided.

Adult

     Acrylics with Sandi Chanoch - Tuesdays, 1 to 3 pm, beginning September 13th, at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Ave.  Beginner to intermediate painters are welcome to receive painting instruction in a relaxed atmosphere.  $80/ 6 classes (non-residents $90).  Materials are additional - registration list will be provided at registration.

     Watercolors with Maryann Burton - Wednesdays, 10 am to 12 noon, beginning September 14th, at the Stable, 259 N. Maple Avenue.  $80/ 5 classes (non-residents $90).  Materials are additional - a registration list will be provided at registration.

     Chinese Brush Painting - senior adults 55 and older - Wednesdays, 9:30 to 11:00 am, beginning September 14th, at the Community Center, 131 N. Maple Avenue.  Chinese Brush Painting is a symbolic expression of an object with each brush stroke a defining movement.  $20/ 5 sessions (non-residents $30).   

     Garden Arts for Seniors (55 and older) - Friday, September 23rd (one day only), 9:15 to 10:15 am, the Community Center, 131 N. Maple Avenue.  Come create your own succulent terrarium, designing with glass beads, garden rocks, dried mosses and more.  $12/1 session (non-residents $22).  All materials provided.
