Paramus Sunrise Golf Outing

“I had a terrific time, it was a funtastic day” said Stephen Nichols, Executive Director of BrightView Senior Living and one of Paramus Sunrise’s newest members. His comment was echoed by many of the participants who chose to take part in this fundraising affair. Not only was the Paramus Golf Course well maintained for playing, but the dinner and open bar at Seasons was the piece de resistance.

A humorous incident occurred at the golf corse, The sponsor of the lunch for the golfers, Joe Castelano of AFC Urgent Care (formerly Doctors Express) couldn't get a lunch ticket; they were all gone.

Brigadier General Ray Doyle, (ret), once again came out from deep in Long Island to play and to emcee the dinner. The General had Paramus Veteran Service Officer Sam Casiello and World War II veteran Mel Fabrikant lead the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. He then recognized veterans from all the latest wars and asked them to say a little bit about their service. This was done by date of the war served which left Fabrikant up as last.

The open bar was available throughout the evening and hors d’oeuvres were served early on and then the buffet dinner was opened up with a great selection of all kinds of foods. After the food was eaten, Co-Chairs Janet Pomante and Dennis Arslanian recognized the gathering with gifts donated by a slew of people and organizations. There were so many that some won several times.

Paramus Sunrise Rotary uses the monies earned to benefit the Paramus Veterans, L.E.A.D, the Volunteer Fire Department and Paramus High School Scholarships. The club meets at BrightView Senior Living, 396 Forest Avenue, Paramus on Tuesday mornings at 8 AM. They welcome new members.
