Local Dignitaries and Business and Community Leaders Soar at N.J.’s First and Only Wind Tunnel
PARAMUS, NJ., June 1, 2018 – Local dignitaries, business and community leaders, S.T.E.M. educators and many more came together recently to celebrate the Grand Opening of iFLY in Paramus, the first and only facility in New Jersey. iFLY, the world’s largest indoor skydiving operation, has 29 facilities across the U.S.
iFLY instructors put on jaw-dropping bodyflight demonstrations for attendees, many of whom took turns in the wind tunnel. Mayor of Paramus Richard LaBarbiera was the first guest to take flight. “It was an uplifting experience in every sense of the word,” said LaBarbiera. “We are pleased that iFLY has chosen Paramus to call home and hope they are as happy to be here as we are to have them.”
Pictured left to right at the event’s ribbon-cutting ceremony are Tabetha Layton, assistant general manager of iFLY Paramus; Joshua Braunstein, sales manager of iFLY Paramus; Mike Torres, instructor at iFLY Paramus; Michael Zanetti, general manager of iFLY Paramus; Jeanne Weber, council member of Paramus; Michelle Spiridakis, co-chairperson of Paramus Regional Chamber of Commerce; Elaine Winter, vice president, programs/education of Paramus Regional Chamber of Commerce; Richard LaBarbiera, mayor of Paramus; Pat Verile, council member of Paramus; Donna Perkosky, co-chairperson of Paramus Regional Chamber of Commerce; and Chris Tully, chief of community engagement/district director for Congressman Gottheimer.
“At iFLY, we love sharing our passion for indoor skydiving with others and couldn’t be more excited to open our tunnel in Paramus,” said Zanetti. “Our thanks to the Mayor, local leadership and the entire community for the warm welcome to the area.”
Adding to the Grand Opening’s fun and entertainment were DJ Aaron Solomon, guest appearances by the New Jersey Jackals’ mascot and Bergen Community College Bulldog, and raffles during the evening. Guests enjoyed fare from the popular Empanada Mania Food Truck as well as an array of other offerings.
“We are grateful to have one of the most – if not the most – experiential entertainment companies open a facility in Paramus,” said Joanne Cimiluca, director of the Bergen County Economic Development Corporation. “Bergen County is the ideal place for iFLY, and we feel the company will be a success in northern New Jersey.”
