Award recognizes women leaders in the retail food industry
Keasbey, NJ (July 30, 2020) – Wakefern Food Corp., the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the U.S. and merchandising, distribution and logistics arm for ShopRite stores, announced seven ShopRite employees are recipients of Progressive Grocer’s 2020 Top Women in Grocery Award. The award recognizes women who strengthen the retail food industry by going above and beyond their job description, leading by example and making a difference in the communities they serve.
Honorees are from Wakefern member companies Inserra Supermarkets, Klein’s ShopRite of Maryland and ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc. The winners are as follows: Jessica Gasser, vice president of human resources and chief compliance officer, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc.; Susan Giordano, general manager of the ShopRite of Wallington, Inserra Supermarkets; Rea Noyes, general manager of the ShopRite of Ramsey, Inserra Supermarkets; Gina Olivieri, director of payroll and benefits, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc.; Lauren Shoul, lead store director, ShopRite of Cardiff, Klein’s ShopRite of Maryland; Alina Svizzero, district HR specialist, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc.; and Rebecca Weber, regional quality assurance manager, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc.
The honorees will be celebrated during an awards ceremony on November 5 in Orlando, Florida.

Jessica Gasser, Vice President of Human Resources, Chief Compliance Officer, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc.
Gasser a resident of Secaucus, NJ, is honored as a Top Women in Grocery Senior-level Executive for her work establishing the Human Resources function as more than operations administrative support, and for focusing on the strategic use and deployment of talent. She also serves as the executive sponsor for the newly created Women’s Leadership Development Group at ShopRite.
Susan Giordano, General Manager of the ShopRite of Wallington, Inserra Supermarkets
Giordano, a resident of Maywood, NJ, is honored as a Top Women in Grocery Store Manager for her work increasing sales and emphasizing community outreach for her team. She is also the designated supervisor of the Inserra Supermarkets Store Management Training Program overseeing day-to-day training and mentorship of program candidates. Giordano has also focused on community outreach, making her store the top ShopRite Partners In Caring fundraiser.
Rea Noyes, General Manager of the ShopRite of Ramsey, Inserra Supermarkets
Noyes, a resident of Highland Mills, NY, is honored as a Top Women in Grocery Store Manager for her strong track record of mentorship and community outreach. She established an ongoing volunteer program with the Center for Food Action and was honored with a coveted spot on the special-edition ShopRite Partners in Caring Cheerios box. Inserra recognized her with the Above and Beyond Award for her positive attitude and performance.
Gina Olivieri, Director of Payroll and Benefits, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc.
Olivieri, a resident of Poughkeepsie, NY, is honored as a Top Women in Grocery Rising Star for her open, collaborative style, resulting in a strategic approach toward several key hiring and onboarding practices. Last December she received the ShopRite Supermarkets Outstanding Store Support award and was selected to serve on a new compliance committee.
Lauren Shoul, Lead Store Director, ShopRite of Cardiff, Klein’s ShopRite of Maryland
Shoul, a resident of Fawn Grove, PA, is honored as a Top Women in Grocery Store Manager for her work at the Cardiff store, planning and executing a full-store remodel while keeping sales up. Her store also had the highest sales growth during this period and won the region’s ShopRite Partners in Caring Cheerios contest for its fundraising efforts.
Alina Svizzero, District HR Specialist, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc.
Svizzero, a resident of Rock Tavern, NY, is honored as a Top Women in Grocery Rising Star for her contribution to several new programs including a guided discussion for in-store managers to conduct one-on-ones with employees to identify opportunities for improvement. She is also an active supporter of ShopRite’s Partners in Caring.
Rebecca Weber, Regional Quality Assurance Manager, ShopRite Supermarkets, Inc.
Weber, a resident of Cortlandt, NY, is honored as a Top Women in Grocery Rising Star for her work on improving store performance on third-party audits, achieving a one hundred percent passage rate for state inspections in her district. She was also selected to represent ShopRite on the New Jersey Food Council’s Chapter 24 Committee.
