BERGENFIELD, NJ — eightytwenty smash, the burger pop-up from fine dining chef and Westwood resident Matthew Borgersen, is ready for their next event in Bergen County.
It’s headed to Empanada Mania (62 South Washington Avenue, Bergenfield, NJ), which will be hosting the pop-up on Sunday, April 18th from 12:00pm till 7:00pm.eightytwenty smash has implemented a new pre-sale ticketing system, which allows pre-orders for specific (approximately 30 minute) time slots during the pop-up. Each ticket will entitle the ticket holder to one SMASHBOX — a six pack of smashers (ie sliders) with a single order of fries. Tickets will be sold online via pre-order only at https://eightytwentysmash.ticketleap.com/empanadamania01
Smashers are crafted using an 80/20 custom Prime blend that’s pasture-raised and 100% hormone/antibiotic free from beef purveyor New York Valley Wagyu. The meat is then smashed on a griddle with onions, topped with yellow American cheese and homemade Mandy sauce then served on a toasted Martin's Slider Potato Roll.
In addition, Empanada Mania will be selling their full menu of empanadas the day of the event — including one of their dessert cake empanadas.
eightytwenty smash was founded in early 2021 by Matthew Borgersen while on hiatus as Executive Chef of Italian restaurant Caffe Anello in Westwood.
Having worked in kitchens since his teen years, the Westwood native grew up enjoying the sliders served at perennial favorite White Manna in Hackensack. eightytwenty smash is an homage to those burgers, his own interpretation of Jersey classic.
eightytwenty smash has popped up in many popular restaurant kitchens across North Jersey and continues to expand with private parties, event catering and chef/restaurant collaborations.
