Englewood Hospital Supports Jewish Family Services Food Drive


[media:2011101815001358 width:180]Englewood Hospital and Medical Center (englewoodhospital.com) recently hosted a food drive to benefit Jewish Family Services (JFS). Hospital employees and visitors generously donated a variety of goods during the two-week long food drive. Pantry items such as non-perishable food items and beverages will be distributed by JFS of North Bergen and Hudson to help families in crisis and homebound elders.
According to the Feeding America organization, almost 13% of New Jersey households are food insecure meaning they lack access or means to acquire nutritious foods.

Wagner Legislation Would Protect School Children From Exposure To Harmful Pesticides


Assemblywoman Connie Wagner (D-Bergen) on Tuesday touted legislation that would protect children from exposure to potentially harmful pesticides at schools, playgrounds and recreational fields.
“We all can appreciate a well-kept lawn, but not at the risk of exposing children to harmful pesticides. Parents have enough things to worry about; sending their children to school should not be one of them,” said Wagner. “Aside from home, school is where children spend most of their time. This bill would ensure their health is not compromised while in school.”
