Untreated hypertension may lead to heart attack or stroke.  Even without noticeable symptoms, unsuspecting victims of high blood pressure may experience significant health effects.  Paramus Health Officer, Judith Migliaccio reminds us that because hypertension can be treated, early detection is necessary for good management.  Healthy eating and daily physical activity can have beneficial results.  For that reason, Paramus residents will be offered several opportunities in January to have their blood pressure checked by the Borough nurses.

Rochelle Park Police Recover Stolen Car


On December 12, 2011 at 4:25 PM, Officer Ken Stapleton made a motor vehicle stop.  The vehicle, a 2011 Chevy Impala, was rented and never returned to the rental company.  The driver, Daniel Tvert age 30 of Elmwood Park, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property.  He additionally had an outstanding arrest warrant from the Elmwood Park Police.

World AIDS Day Observed at Englewood Hospital

In observance of World AIDS Day on December 1, a section of the national AIDS Memorial Quilt was displayed at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center to commemorate those individuals who have died and to raise awareness and show support for people living with HIV.  The portion of the quilt displayed at Englewood Hospital was Block 5328 and included numerous patchwork panels with powerful images and stories created by family members of those who died of AIDS.
