This is the salutation in a letter being sent out to Paramus residents by the Paramus Volunteer Rescue Squad. They are seeking funds and new volunteers to help keep their organization up to the skills and quota needed. In 2006, they responded to just under 1,000 emergencies ranging from minor incidents to potentially dangerous situations. It added up to over 14,000 hours of volunteer service.
Students in Mrs. Barbara Speroâ€™s and Ms. Kelly Wendrychowiczâ€™s kindergarten classes recently participated in a Service Learning Project. One of the students in Mrs. Speroâ€™s class suggested doing something that would help others.
The group as a whole identified a need of children in winter and it was decided that the classes would collect mittens and gloves for The Childrenâ€™s Aid and Family Services in Paramus. Over 50 pairs of gloves and mittens were collected!!
Mayor Tedesco announced the following: On the sixth year anniversary of the tragic events at the Pentagon, the twin towers in New York City and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the American Supports You Freedom Walk will be held in Paramus, New Jersey. This event will be sponsored by Operation Goody Bag, a middle school service-learning initiative and the Department of Defense initiative.
At the Tuesday meeting of the Mayor and Council, in his brief report, Councilman Rich LaBarbieri uttered that dreaded four letter word. The rest of the council members groaned when they heard him say that. Of course Rich was mentioning that there had been a lack of --- SNOW! They were afraid it might be an omen!
