The â€œIn the Spotlightâ€ film series at the Paramus Public Library highlights a new travel film each month. Augustâ€™s destination is â€œThailand: The Golden Kingdom.â€ The film will be shown at the main library, 116 E. Century Road in Paramus on Monday, August 21st at 12:30pm. This program is free of charge, open to the public and requires no advance registration. Light refreshments will be served.
Amidst a cloud of smoke and shielded by a screened in area, I heard hellos coming my way as I arrived at the Senior Center. When the corner was rounded, there were Pat Oâ€™Brien and Ralph Amato cooking hamburgers on the outdoor grill. Just then Sam Casiello came through the light rain with a tray and accompanied by Jenna, his granddaughter. Since the picnic tables were empty, it was easy to discern that the people were inside.

Valerie Coniglio, in the face of storm weather predictions, moved the scheduled event to the IBEW Hall on Robin Road. She and her crew set up 575 chairs in the air-conditioned hall and about 25 went unfilled, a wise decision.
