Jerry as related by Pat O'Brian

In 1975 just as I started my professional career I met a man named Jerry. Jerry was the most decent, gentle, affable, hard working, well rounded man I had ever met. He was also the most humble. He was a clerk for the company I worked for but there was something about him that made me always feel there was much more. I’d like to tell you what I learned over the next twenty years about a hero.

Resting at the Comfort Inn & Suites

The Comfort Inn on Rte 17
As I entered the automatic doors of the Comfort Inn on Rte 17 South, I asked the pretty receptionist for Fernando.  "He's not in." she replied. Swallowing a gasp (the weather was boiling hot), I mentioned that I had an appointment with him. She immediately got on the phone and then assured me that it was no problem, Sean would be out in a few minutes. I was assured that he would be able to help, that Fernando had called in sick.

The Mahoney Brothers, Jukebox Heroes

The Mehoney Brothers
I would have paid $50.00 to see this show was a comment given to Councilwoman Concetta (Connie) Wagner last night by a member of the audience as he was leaving. There were approximately 400 people present last evening for this free entertainment and the Mahoney Brothers kept them entertained with their wide variety of songs and artists, music for everyone.

National Night Out at the Municipal Complex

National Night Out 2006
One would never surmise that the latest National Night Out was put together at the last minute. Requiring a change in location did not bother the committee. Despite the sweltering weather, many Paramus residents came to the 5 to 8 PM presentation. They were treated to golf cart transportation from their cars, Police display of armament and a tour of Police Headquarters, Rescue Squad equipment, Aerial fire trucks, a State Police helicopter, County Police equipment and local organizations who had displays. There was even a water spray for the youngsters.

Lautenberg Introduces Legislation to Repeal Medicare Part D Coverage Gap

Frank Lautenberg
Frank Lautenberg
WASHINGTON, D.C. – As the effect of the new Medicare law’s coverage gap (aka the “Donut Hole”) is beginning to be felt nationwide, United States Senator Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) introduced legislation today to improve the law by eliminating the coverage gap.

The Lautenberg “Medicare Part D Coverage Gap Elimination Act of 2006 Act” would prevent Medicare Part D providers from offering plans with a coverage gap and require plans to offer only uninterrupted drug coverage. (Accelerated coverage for “catastrophic care” would remain at current levels under the Lautenberg bill.) The text of the legislation is attached.
