Once again, 4th of July Chairman Rich Siniscalchi came through with a terrific line up of people, organizations and businesses in town. Once again, www.paramusPost.com was on the job taking pictures of the floats and the people who were watching the parade. We are proud to announce that Reverend Sam Stone, our publisher, was asked to do the Invocation.

No day at the beach?

NO DAY AT THE BEACH?
Anytime you commune with nature and hordes of hot, sweaty humans, you have to keep your wits about you. The beach is no exception.

Parents brave heatstroke just loading the cooler, Boogie boards, chairs and kids into the car. Finding parking requires a ruthlessness usually reserved for the mall in December. And hauling all the gear across the sand can leave you feeling like you've been stranded in the Mojave.

SKIN CANCER SCREENING FOR PARAMUS MUNICIPAL POOL MEMBERS

Research has shown that 80% of all skin cancers could be prevented by using protection from the sun’s harmful rays. Staying in the shade from 10:00 a.m. to 2 p.m., wearing a hat and covering as much skin as possible will reduce the risk of skin cancer later in life.
A skin cancer screening will be held on Tuesday, July 31st from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the Paramus Municipal Pool for pool members by Dr. Jonathan Blume of Westwood Dermatology and sponsored by the Paramus Board of Health. Pool members are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to ask questions and to have any sun damaged skin examined.
For questions, call 201-265-2100, Ext. 615 or 618.

Mayor James Tedesco had promised the attendees at the recent Mayor and Council meeting that they would see a spectacular ½ hour of fireworks. He was right. Certificate of Completion
I received an envelope in the mail that contained my Certificate of Completion from the Tomotherapy Staff plus a questionnaire asking about my impressions of their treatment. That was the easiest part of the envelope, telling how wonderful the staff is. The more difficult part was the fond memories it brought back.

Torture survivors find help, healing

HELPING THE VICTIMS
What Majur Malou endured was ghastly, worse than can be imagined.

He was beaten.

He was made to stand for hours with his arms straight up, like a referee signaling a touchdown. If he dropped his arms - or even let them sag - look out.
